Back to Uni!

Today marks the exciting first day of my Honours year in Psychology! It feels like a magical new chapter is unfolding—a perfect blend of curiosity, hard work, and maybe a little bit of enchantment. Balancing study, running The Gilded Dragon, crafting beautiful jewellery, and soon launching our tea collection is no small feat, but my husband and I thrive on being busy bees. There’s something fulfilling about weaving creativity and learning into the everyday.

As the year kicks off, I thought it would be fun (and helpful!) to share my Uni Must-Haves & To-Do’s for anyone else diving back into study or simply juggling a busy life.

Uni Must-Haves & To-Do’s for a Productive Year

1. Organised Note-Taking Tools

  • Google Docs for flexible, cloud-based note-taking. Great for writing drafts and collaborating.
  • GoodNotes on the iPad for handwritten notes and mind maps when creativity strikes.

2. Stay on Top of Deadlines

  • Google Calendar is my lifesaver. I schedule everything—from assignment deadlines to creative work hours and (importantly) downtime!

3. Reference Management

  • Zotero keeps all my research and citations neat and tidy. A must for any psychology student!

4. Study Essentials

  • A cozy study space (bonus points for dragon-themed décor!)
  • Noise-canceling headphones or a calming playlist for deep focus
  • A stash of snacks and teas
  • Time to move - you’ve got to work your body as well as your mind!

5. Self-Care Reminders

  • Block out time for breaks and fresh air walks.
  • Keep hydrated—tea counts, right?
  • Check in with yourself and celebrate small wins.
  • Engage with your fav hobbies - for us it’s games!

6. Creative Balance

  • Dedicate specific times for designing/creating - however, remember not to force it
  • Let creativity recharge your mind between study sessions.

This year will be a whirlwind of research, creativity, and growth, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. My husband and I are buzzing with excitement to continue building The Gilded Dragon into a space full of magic and wonder. We can’t wait to share new jewellery, enchanting décor, and more secret projects that we will share with all of you throughout the year!
